Hey there, Friends!
It’s confirmed. Fall has arrived. Of course, in Los Angeles, the only way to know for sure is when everything comes with a pumpkin spice option.
Since I last dropped the newsletter, I’ve been a bit of a social butterfly.
Appearances! So many Appearances!
Noir At the Bar in Los Angeles was at the end of September and, as per usual, it was a great time. Hopefully I won over a few fans reading from Big F@!king Deal. It also gave me a chance to scratch that performance itch I still get from time to time.
But it wasn’t just Noir, there were podcasts too!
First up was the Comp Title Book Club where Jessica Hatch, author and editor, and I chatted about Lisa Lutz’s book The Spellman Files. And, yeah, got around to my books as well.
Up next, I talked with Dedi Felman from Genre Masters, they do online writing courses with a focus on… yep, you guessed, genre. We went over my writing journey and my experiences with publishing.
Book recommendation
It’s almost Halloween, so… we gotta go with something at least a wee bit creepy…. And it’s a classic.
Sometimes movie adaptations ruin a book.
Maybe that’s not such a hot take as often our experience of a movie isn’t the same we had with a book. Some do better than others.
However, I’m saying this: every adaptation of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde ruins the book. Because the thing is… you don’t know the relationship between Jekyll and Hyde until the end. It’s the twist. It’s the Twilight Zone ending. It’s what’s in the box. And it’s amazing.
It’s a great, moody piece of Victorian Lit that is perfect for this time of year and a mystery lover. Grab yourself a copy and pretend you have no idea what’s coming.
Finally, an ask!
If you’ve had a chance to read Big F@!king Deal and you enjoyed it, it would be great if you could take a moment and leave a review on Amazon. Reviews help. They tell Amazon people like the book so they start thinking, “Hey, others might like it, too.” They also make great ad copy. As I’ve been running ads for the books, the ones that get the most attention feature quotes from readers like you.
Much appreciated!
Until next time!
