News

• Big Fat F@!k-up is a 2022 Killer Nashville Claymore Award Finalist in the Comedy category. The award is about the first 50 pages of an unpublished manuscript… I will be there at the Conference and attending the awards dinner!

• It will be my first awards dinner as a nominee! For anything. What will I wear!? (Wait, is that actually newsworthy?)

• I am hammering away at the first draft of Big F@!king Deal, and it’s going in that delicious brew of “This is so much fun, I love writing” and “What am I doing with my life!?”

That’s it for the news. I don’t know if that’s actually 100% more news or not. While I loved math — who doesn’t? — I was not a math major.

Book recommendation!

This month: Eric Beetner’s Two In The Head. If you like your books nice and gentle, with a leisurely pace, this is not the book for you. It literally starts off with a bang.

A DEA agent named Samantha Whelen wakes up from an explosion to find someone who looks exactly like her staring back. Something weird happened in that explosion. Samantha was split into two. A good Samantha and a very bad one.

It seems when Agent Whelen was whole, she wasn’t perhaps the most ethical of of agents. Took a bribe here and there to feed information to twin narcotics dealers. But when push comes to shove, she couldn’t take the big bribe when it meant killing her fiancé, a DA who was bringing a case against those twins.

Well, now, there’s two Samantha Whelens and one doesn’t think killing anyone is such a bad idea.

It’s a high concept. It’s action. It’s noir. You’re in great hands with Beetner.
